Lovely site jess, i love the colour scheme. But agreeing with some of the other comment-ers, there are no women. Maybe the girlfriends to the "heroes" (Spider-Man, Superman, etc.) are heroes unto themselves. they put up with the "superhero" going off, and not knowing if they will come home that night. And sometimes, the women are left to pick up the pieces.

Nice site though!

I really liked your comments about heroes - some very insightful and deep comments. I did laugh at one thing - the comment that Luke Skywalker was scrawny. There were a whole lot of girls and women when Star Wars first came out that thought Luke Skywalker (or perhaps more specifically Mark Hammill) was anything but scrawny! Mind you, I wasn't into Star Wars back then but I do remember friends "in love" with Mark Hammill. (Okay that makes me sound really old doesn't it!)

Zorro was an interesting, but appropriate, choice - I just love the soundtrack to the movie! Zorro is that typical damsel-in-distress-rescuing type of guy. The type of hero found in any good fairytale. Does that make Shrek a hero too? Hmmm ....

Another feminist I see!

Well, Dorothea McKellar (one of our poets) could be a female hero.

What do you think, Jess?

I'd be interested to see your My Country poem when you have time!

Hey, you have a good post on heroes by the way why are their only male heroes. Why not woman’s heroes?

Sorry Jess, but Luke met his father (not his mother -she died when he was born). What you said made sense though!

Superman's real name is Peter Parker. Mary Jane is a good girlfriend to him, as Lois Lane is to Superman.

I like your choices of Luke and Zorro too. Zorro is a bit of an unusual superhero, he reminds me of Don Juan or Don Quixote (read that story one day).

You didn't have any women or any Australian heroes. Who do you think are our heroes?

I love your description of their journies; very evocative of the struggles they have to go through and what they learn in the end.
